Enigma Motorsport dominate final F3 Cup races

Enigma Motorsport with regular drivers, Henry Chart and Olly Rae dominated the final F3 Cup races of the season last weekend (October 25/26) at Snetteron in Norfolk.

Henry clinched wins in both races, with two lights-to-flag victories after starting from pole position. He also won the IWI Watches Fastest Lap award for the quickest lap time during the races.

Olly, already the Trophy class champion claimed the trophy class victory in both races.

It was a memorable end to the F3 Cup season for Enigma Motorsport who also took 3rd place in the team championship.

The boys will hope to continue their form into the 2015 F3 Cup season.

The racing is not over just yet in 2014 for Enigma, as they will be competing in the 2014 Walter Hayes Trophy for FF1600 cars this weekend (November 1/2) at Silverstone with Neil Tofts and Falco Wauer.

Olly clinches F3 Cup Trophy class crown

Olly Rae secured the Trophy 01 Class at Brands Hatch last weekend with two more impressive performances, picking up a fourth and a fifth place on the Grand Prix circuit.

The Australian-born racer missed out on the class win in 2013 to the experienced Dave Karaskas after missing three rounds of the season. Rae's fine results this year, often ahead of newer machinery from the Cup Class, have handed the Enigma Motorsport driver the title with four races to spare and moved him into the top three of the overall points standings.

Rae said: "It's a good feeling and definitely better than losing out last year. The whole weekend was great, especially taking the lap record off Linton Stutely too."

The target now for Rae is to score his first top-three finish in the championship. He's picked up five fourth-place finishes from his nine races so far in 2014, having missed the rounds at Silverstone.

"My focus is now definitely on getting outright podiums. It's going to be tricky but nothing's impossible. If we get a few more wet races we'll be in a better position to fight with the Cup Class cars and for podiums".

"Now Henry Chart is back racing full-time, hopefully we can start picking up more Teams' Championship points for Enigma. We'll see how it goes and see how far up the table we can go."

Linton Stutely, team manager at Enigma Motorsport, said: "We're delighted Olly's won the Trophy Class after the great form he has shown all year. He's beaten much newer cars and continues to improve with every race. The job is the same from here on and we'll continue to try to score as a many points as we can."

Challenging weekend in mixed conditions at Silverstone

It was a challenging weekend at Silverstone for Enigma Motorsport in our two-pronged attack on the F3 Cup and the BRDC Formula 4 Championship

In round 2 of the F3 Cup season, Henry Chart was driving the Dallara F301 of Olly Rae and displayed a mature approach to gain valuable points in the two F3 Cup races. It was Chart's first time driving an older generation F3 car thanks to Olly Rae’s great team spirit and sportsmanship in allowing him to compete in his absence.

It was a relatively trouble-free race for Chart in race 1, although he was disappointed to lose out to Tristan Cliffe at the start. Cliffe later spun in the wet with an underlying problem, promoting him to a 2nd place finish

"I had a good start although Tristan got past me which was annoying. The first time I'd started the car was then on the grid so it was a bit of baptism of fire, but it was fun" said Henry.

"It was quite interesting halfway through the race when the rain started to come down. It got really slippery so I was being cautious and thinking about not chucking it off as opposed to going any further." Added Chart

Chart added a 3rd place finish in race 2 and described his approach to this weekend as "damage limitation", but he was pleased to bag a good haul of points while he waits for his Cup 07 Class car to return at the next round at Rockingham.

In the BRDC Formula 4 Championship, Falco Wauer impressed early in the weekend with his pace despite not sitting in the car since November by going 3rd fastest in Friday testing.

His highlight of the weekend came when he drove from 15th to 5th in two laps in mixed conditions, giving the team high hopes for the rest of the season. Ultimately the lack of time in the car and early race incidents meant that the results didn't reflect the pace he is capable of.

The next stop for the BRDC Formula 4 Championship will be at the Brands Hatch GP circuit (17th - 18th May) followed by the F3 Cup cars at Rockingham the weekend after which should see the return of Henry Chart's F305 and Olly Rae back behind the wheel.
