Festival success for Enigma Motorsport

Enigma Motorsport enjoyed the team's first victory in only its debut season yesterday at the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch. Neil Tofts driving a Mygale in the Zetec class took the chequered flag after a race long battle in the final with Finland's Sebastian Nummi. This came after a weekend where Neil had two class wins and a class pole. But it wasn't quite as easy as that, Neil said;

"We had a mis-fire during testing and only really got on top of it 10 minutes before qualifying. So I'd like to thank the boys at Enigma for all their hard work"

In the Duratec class races, Antti Buri finished 13th in the usual-fiercely contested final. Leading up to the final, Antti qualified 13th in arguably the toughest heat, finishing in 11th position. In the Semi-Final he acheived a season best of 8th place.

Vernon helped to Runner-up spot by Enigma

Enigma Motorsport helped Kieran Vernon to runner-up spot in the Scholarship class of the MSA Formula Ford championship of Great Britan at the final meeting of the season at Castle Combe. Having previously driven a Spirit, Vernon suffered engine problems with his normal car and gave a late call to the team mid-week to run him at Combe. Having never driven a Mygale chassis before, Kieran quickly got to grips with the car during Thursday testing. The experience learned wasn't to be of much use come the one-day event on Saturday due to the wet and windy conditions. Despite the slippery track, BRDC rising-star Vernon lifted the car from qualifying in 16th to Enigma's best finish of the season in 9th and 2nd in class. He finished race 2 in 16th place. Enigma Motorsport now moves onto the prestigious Formula Ford Festival in 2 weeks time when regular driver Antti Buri will return to drive the Mygale07.

Brands Hatch report

Enigma's Mygale chassis flew in the hands on team boss Linton Stutely around the GP configuration of the Brands Hatch circuit. Although a 14th and 11th place finish may not reflect a successful comeback for Linton, race 1 didn't go to plan. Whilst in 8th position and gaining on the cars in front, the Spectrum of Daniel Erickson spun in front of Linton leaving him having to take to the grass in avoidance. Having dropped to the back of the field he climbed some places in the small amount of remaining laps setting the 8th fastest lap in the process. Race 2 was slightly less eventful for Stutely bringing home the car in 11th place. The team now intends to skip the final race of the season at Castle Combe to work on aspects of the car learnt from the Brands meeting. Regular driver Antti Buri will then return to race at the prestigious Formula Ford Festival after his clashing race commitments. Keep checking back to the website to find out more team news regarding the festival as the date nears.

Impressive Enigma debut for Antti Buri

In his first meeting with the team, Antti Buri impressed with his speed and race craft in the teams Mygale07 chassis in front of a bumper DTM crowd. In race 1 he finishes a highly respectable 13th place. Race 2 didn't go quite as smoothly, having a clash with Zaamin Jaffer pitching Antti over the top of his Ray and ending in the gravel of Druids. With such a short time between races and a lot of damage to repair the team worked flat out and some sterling teamwork saw the car making the start of race 3 with seconds to spare. Antti had to start from the pitlane as a result but sliced his way through the field to finish 14th. Unfortunately due to a clashing race commitment in the North European championship Antti will not be at he wheel in two weeks time for the second trip to Brands Hatch, but hopes to return at the season finale at Castle Combe.
